Along with Line 6, it is probably the company doing the most to push the boundaries and challenge our expectations of what a 'guitar rig' or 'effects unit' should do. Having initially been overtaken by Boss and Line 6 in the digital modelling race, DigiTech is now one of the prime movers in the field of combined multi-FX and modelling units. Did you have something that was particularly helpful to other users? The whole thing seems more concise and focused, and with the newly improved amp models, and you have a unit that does a great job with the minimum of fuss. It then has a series of parameter controls for all of the different signal processors and effects. There are five main stomp box buttons as well as two to scroll between the sounds and a programmable expression pedal. It isn't rack mountable as it's a foot controlled work station.
This is a digital effects processing box, with versatility extended beyond the guitar. If your just practicing at home with a smaller amp, this is an excellent pedal, but if you are really specific about tone, you are gonna have to buy non-multi-effect pedals. IT pretty much a sturdy pedal, but it is made of plastic so i won't be dropping it all over the place. Volume is slightly lowered when you use the wah pedal. Some of the amp models really don't sound right, but you just have to use other one's. Did you find this review helpful? If you really work with it, you can get some good sounds on it. A challenge to a composer to get any desired sound and improvise it as and when required.
I like that the patch editing is excellent in hardware nothing worse then having to always have a PC to edit a patch well, this one gets there and looks even better then the VF At least now I can see that there is a pretty good replacement available should my, out of production, VF-1 fail, awesome. We have no technical specifications for this product but your help will be much welcomed.
This GT is really close to the VF-1 for full featured patch editing. I still have the VF-1 which requires an external controller pedal but that suits me just fine. The effects in any of the models are pretty flexible spend more get more control. I had a GT-6 I found the weight ridiculous but what the heck it is a controller pedal and effects unit combined. I would kill to have your stereo signal path and outputs! You have a hard time doing better then a Boss Multi regardless of which ones are preferred by others. I remember you bragging about it in the WV forum. It takes a good amount of tweaking and deleting every preset factory patch If you want a looper, get the GT when it comes out.
IF you want user friendly and out of the box instant magic, Boss is probably not your choice. I put the Digitechs below the Pod in terms of sound potential. I dont' like the Pods as much, though I occasionally hear a good tone out of the XT. Given the fizz issue that ALL moddlers produce in high gain situation, and that NOT being a tone set you want on violin as bow noise adds to teh nastiness, I say the Boss is probably your best bet, as it is the least fizzy, and has a cool mode called tone modify which knocks my socks off!. It looks pretty simple, has USB interface and includes a looper. Yes the Boss Gt will be released at the end of this month and be available for purchase in early April. Boss GT you say However, my GT-Pro is still unprogrammed and waiting to go, lol. I guess I will hold off until I can try one. Digitech GNX3 Multi effects pedal demo and tour I believe they will be available early next month. I've seen a couple video demos from NAMM and that unit looks pretty impressive. Was just a lot less flexible than what Boss are doing. Reverb length was 1 to 10 or something rather than in miliseconds. The big problem was the matrix editing which felt like a pain in the butt, I prefer a button for each effect. I'm curently selling a GNX1 if that's of interest? Whilst the sound quality was good enough, I didn't like the gimmics like the solid state recorder - think it had a drum machine too. I am in the process of updating my sound equipment and I am considering one of these units. Has anyone here used either? Any comments or reviews specific to use with e-violin would be great.
